As a fan of Rebecca Yarros, my bar is rather high when it comes to ROMFAN. The Sanchacks get “It” – this book understands why and how readers get “invested” in a series. This book succeeds because it knows that great fantasy is not just about the setting, it is about investment. You get pulled in by the world, but you stay because the characters feel worth following. After all, characters are the reason we read, not just some words describing a place.
